Not #1 in the OWGR but actually the best golfer on the PGA Tour – is it Jon Rahm or Scottie Scheffler?  While the two jockey back and forth in the OWGR rankings, they both have put up great track records of late. The discussion of who is the best can go on for quite a while.

Scottie Scheffler with his dominant win at the Players Championship was a wonder to behold. Virtually flawless play on Sunday had him pull away from what was looking like a potentially crowded leaderboard. As soon as Terrell Hatton posted -12 in the clubhouse, it was a like a light went on in Scheffler’s head that it was time to put the hammer down.

John Rahm has also been on an absolute tear this year, winning three times in his seven starts on the PGA Tour and rising to World No. 1 with a victory at the Genesis Invitational last month. Unfortunately the Spaniard had his worst result of the season finishing T-39 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, his first finish outside the top 8 since the Tour Championship in August. Then he had to withdraw from the Players Championship after round 1 because of illness.

Now they are both playing in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. Scheffler is seeded #1 and Rahm seeded #2 so they are on opposite sides of the bracket. If they can win and move forward, they eventually can meet head to head in the final. That will potentially be for great viewing.
