The BMW Championship was a great illustration why “Drive for Show, Putt for Dough” is an accurate statement. Bryson DeChambeau constantly out drove Patrick Cantlay on Par 4 and Par 5 holes by some 30-35 yards. But the ending all boiled down to Cantlay making pressure putt constantly from as far away as 25 feet where DeChambeau missed several shorter putts that would have given him the title. A riveting 6 hole playoff occurred after DeChambeau misse a 6 footer to win the Championship outright. Cantlay made his putts to force DeChambeau to make his to win and he didn’t do it. Cantlay made a 25 foot putt on the 6th play off hole and DeChambeau could not convert his 7 footer to tie. With the win, Cantlay takes over the #1 spot in the FEDEX playoffs going into the final event at East Lake.
