If you didn’t watch the Solheim Cup this past weekend, you missed some great golf. The Americans played inspired golf all three days. They fell behind 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 to the European squad Friday morning. However, they came out with a vengeance Friday afternoon and swept the 4 games. From there, they didn’t look back. After Saturday’s play, they were up 10 1/2 – 5 1/2 and ended up on Sunday with a 16 1/2 – 11 1/2 victory. While the winning margin was sizable, it did not reflect the grit shown by the Euro ladies as most of the matches where tight throughout the weekend.

Golfers with the best results from the Cup were:

United States

Cristie Kerr 3-0-1

Danielle Kang 3-1-0

Lizette Salis 3-1-0

and late add for injured Jessica Korda

Paula Creamer 3-1-0

Europe

Anna Nordqvist 3-0-1

and late add for injured Suzann Pettersen

Catriona Matthew 3-1-0

One one of the players played all 5 games – Georgia Hall – who played inspired golf all weekend and the rookie held her own in each of the games going 2-3-0.

The PGA Tour was at the regular season ending event in Greensboro NC for the Wyndam Championship. Henrik Stenson shot at minus 22 to set a tournament scoring record. He needed every point to beat Ollie Schneiderjans by 1 stroke. The contest within the Championship was two fold – a) guys playing to move from outside the 125 golfer standings to qualifying for next week’s Northern Trust and b) playing for their tour card for the 2017/2018 PGA season. Playing their way in were Martin Flores, Rory Sabbatini, Harold Varner III and JJ Henry who earned the bubble slot #125. Also, qualifying to retain their regular season card were Marting Flores and Geoff Ogilvy.

Other Winners this past weekend:

~ Champions Tour: Scott McCarron

~ Web.com Tour: Talor Gooch

~ Euro Tour: Adrian Otaegui
