The much discussed LIV Tour has begun with its LIV Golf Invitational London event. This was both an individual and team event. The individual title was won by Charl Schwartzel who shot a 7 under for the 3 round event. With the win, he pocketed $4 million. He also captained the winning team of Schwartzel, Du Plessis, Grace and Oosthuzien. The winning team shot 20 under beating the 2nd place team by 14 strokes. They split $3 million in prize money.

Seventeen members of the PGA Tour elected to join the LIV Tour. With that decision, the PGA Tour suspended all seventeen from playing in PGA Tour events citing a violation of Tour regulations. Of the seventeen, nine had already resigned their PGA Tour membership (Dustin Johnson, Louis Oosthuzien, Kevin Na, Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell).

Since then, both Patrick Reed and Bryson DeChambeau have joined the LIV Tour.

Back on U.S. soil, the LPGA Tour was in New Jersey for the Shoprite Classic. Brooke Henderson notched her 11th tour victory with an eagle on the first playoff hole to beat Lindsey Weaver-Wright.

On the other side of the northern border, the PGA Tour was playing the RBC Canadian Open. Rory McIlroy defended his 3 year delayed title.

Golf History was made in Sweden as 22 year old Linn Grant became the first woman to win on the men’s DP World Tour as she took the title at the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed event. She bested Henrik Swenson and Marc Warren by 9 strokes.
