Tropical Storm Henri force the final round at the Northern Trust (the first round of the FEDEX playoffs) to be moved to a Monday finish. Tony Finau took over the lead on the back 9 at 20 under only to see Cam Smith tie him and thus creating a playoff. The playoff started on the 18th hole where Finau split the fairway with his drive. Smith’s tee shot faded right and out of bounds. He re-teed and landed in a fairway bunker with no shot to the green. Finau went on to par the hole to win his 2nd title – the first since the Puerto Rico Open in 2016. With the win, Finau jumped up to first place in the playoff standings heading into this week’s BMW Championship.
