LPGA: This past weekend has a lot of golf results. We experienced the first International Crown on the ladies tour. Spain swept all 4 singles matches on Sunday to will the event. Sweden finished 2nd in this eight team event. So much for seeds: Spain was seeded 5th and the US was seeded first. The US didn’t even get out of the first round on Saturday being one of the first three teams to be eliminated.
PGA: Tim Clark birdied 5 of the last 8 holes to win the Canadian Open by a stroke over Jim Furyk. Furyk missed a 12 footer on 18 to leave the door open for Clark’s second PGA tour win (the other being the Players Championship back in 2010). Since his 2010 victory at the PGA Championship, Furyk is now 0-7 when holding the 54 hole lead.
CHAMPIONS: Bernard Langer ran away with the Senior British Open by finishing -18. This was his 4th Senior Major. Finishing a distant 2nd (some 13 strokes behind) was Colin Montgomerie who has 2 Senior Majors under his belt this year.
SYMETRA: Fans of Golf Channel’s Big Break series will certainly recognize the name Selena Parks. Selena was on the last series and probably had the best game of all the contestants but didn’t win. However, she just won the SEFCU Classic by posting a bogey free 62 on Sunday to best Min Lee.
EUROPEAN: Who knew there was a golf course in Moscow? There is and it held the Russian Open. Watching a bit of it on the Golf Channel, it looked like a pretty nice layout. David Horsey (Eng) won the event for his 3rd victory on the Euro Tour.
WEB.COM: The Midwest Classic was won by Zack Sucher for his first victory on the tour. There is another feel good story that goes along with this event. Australian Jarrod Lyle finished 11th in his first US event since his second battle with Leukemia. Keep up the good fight Jarrod.
