This past weekend saw two PGA Tour events: Sanderson Farms Championship and WGC-HSBC Championship. Both winners found themselves on top for the first time. That’s five events on the wrap-around season all won by first timers. (Grillo, Kaufman and Thomas were the first three).
WGC-HSBC was won by Russell Knox. He was the last of the 7 alternates to get into the field and had to rush to get his Visa for the Shanghai China event. He posted a 2 stroke victory over Kevin Kisner.
A Monday finish at the Sandersons Farm Championship saw Peter Malnati post a 67 for -18 and a one stroke win over William McGirt.
The LPGA Tour’s Toto Japan Classic was won by Sun-Ju Ahn. She made a birdie on the first playoff hole to best Angela Stanford and Ji-Hee Lee for her first victory.
Billy Andrade continued a great year on the Champions Tour with his third win of the year at the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Scottsdale AZ.
