Andrew Landry saw his 6 stroke lead disappear with a bunch of bogies before getting back on track the last 2 holes on Sunday. While he was stumbling, Abraham Ancer was on his way to posting a 63 for the day. Ancer and Landry were tied at 24 under after the 16th hole on Sunday. Landry then went on to birdie the last two holes to win the American Express tournament. Scottie Scheffler finished 1 stroke behind Ancer.

Miguel Angel Jimenez won a playoff against Fred Couples and Ernie Els to win the Champions Tour opening event – the Mitsubishi Electric Championship.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship was won by Lee Westwood at 19 under. Two strokes behind him were Tommy Fleetwood, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Victor Perez. With the win, Westwood has now had a victory in each of the last four decades.

At the LPGA Tournament of Champions, Gaby Lopez played an extra 7 holes before dropping a lengthy birdie put to be Inbee Park and Nasa Hataoski for her 2nd tour win.
