The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational was the second PGA Tour victory in a row for Dustin Johnson. It appears DJ now has a aspects of his game (driving, scrambling, short and putting) in gear. He posted a come from behind victory over 3rd round leaders Scott Piercy and Jason Day.  Having won two events in a row has moved DJ in to 2nd place in the Official World Golf Rankings just fractions of a point over Jordan Spieth.

While the elite were at Firestone Country Club, there was PGA Tour event going on in Reno NV. The contest was the Barracuda Championship (the Tour’s only Stableford scoring system event).  Winning by 6 points was Greg Chalmers over Gary Woodland. This was Chalmer’s first PGA tour victory in 385 starts.

Brooke Henderson (#2 in the Women’s OWGR), returned to successfully defend her Cambia Portland Classic crown. This site was also the location of her first LPGA tour victory last summer.

The European Tour was at the Open de France where Thongchai Jaidee posted a 4 stroke victory over Francesco Molinari. Rory McIlroy couldn’t get anything going on Sunday and finished 5 strokes behind Jaidee.
