Well, that is 3 majors in the history book for Rory McIlroy. However, unlike his first two wins, this one was a bit more work on Sunday to hold off charges from Sergio Garcia and Ricky Fowler. While he gets to pick up a check for $1.66 million, how about the 10 year old bet his Dad made. His Dad bet 200 pounds 10 years ago at 500-1 that Rory would win the Open Championship by the time he was 26 years old. Well he did it at age 25 and his Dad picks up 100,000 pounds (roughly a bit over $88 thousand). No that is faith, baby, faith !!!!!!!

With the win, Rory jumps up to #2 in the World Golf rankings. There aren’t any Americans in the top 5 now.  Can Rory now win at Augusta next April to claim the career grand slam by the age of 25? What are Ladbrooke’s odds on that?

Benign is a pretty good work to describe the weather during the Open Championship. I kinda missed the bad weather which always shakes up the golf results.

On the LPGA Tour, Lydia Ko continued her fine play during her Rookie year winning her 2nd event – The Marathon Classic. She fired a closing 65 to notch the win by one stroke over So Yeon Ryu.
