I guess the format really doesn’t matter when your game is hitting on all cylinders. Jason Day beat Louie Oosthuizen 4 and 3 yesterday afternoon in Austin TX at the WGC-Dell Match Play event. This is a pretty grueling event as the two finalists had to play 7 rounds in 5 days.
Day has now won back to back events (last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational) and with this win, he has ascended to #1 in the OWGR. He has wins in 6 of his last 13 starts so it makes sense for him to be ranked accordingly.
Other Tour players were playing the Puerto Rico Open which ended after a 3 hole playoff with Tony Finau beating Steve Marino for his first tour victory.
On the LPGA front, Lydia Ko has found her way back into the winner’s circle with a 4 stroke victory at the KIA Classic in Carlsbad CA. This was her 11th tour victory before she turns 19 next month.
