Jason Day, Alex Noren and Ryan Palmer all finished the Farmers Insurance Open tied at 10 under. The three then moved on to the playoff. Palmer didn’t last beyond the first playoff before bowing out. Day and Noren then played another 4 holes tied before darkness set in thus forcing a Monday finish. It didn’t take long to settle the title on Monday as Day sank an 18 inch birdie putt on the par 5 18th hole for the win on the 6th total playoff hole. This was Day’s 2nd Farmers victory (the first being in 2015).

Over in the Middle East, the Omega Dubai Desert Classic had an unsuspecting winner – China’s

Li Haotong. Haotong birdied 4 of his last 6 holes to take down Rory McIlroy for his 2nd European Tour victory.

In the Bahama’s, the LPGA Tour had its season-opening event. It was the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic. Brittany Lincicome defended her title to win the first event of the year by 2 strokes.

One final note: Tiger Woods made his return to the PGA Tour a successful one as he was one of a half dozen to play all 4 rounds at par or better. He finished 23rd in the field and showed no ill-affects from his ailing back – just showed some rust in the short game.
