Irishman Shane Lowry cruised to his first Major title at The Open Championship despite playing most of the final round in driving rain and strong winds. Lowry finished 6 strokes ahead of Tommy Fleetwood.

Fun Facts: Since the start of the world ranking system in 1986, the average ranking position of the major championship winners has been 33. Since mid 1969, the average age of the major championship winners has been 32.4.  Yes, you must have guessed it. Lowery at the beginning of Open week ranked 33. He also turned 32 back in April (that’s about 32.3).

There was also a PGA Tour event going on in Kentucky – the Barbasol Championship.

Jim Herman, who had missed 16 of 19 cuts this year put together his finest effort in years and posted a 26 under 262 to beat Kelly Kraft by one stroke.
