Patrick Cantlay came from far off the leaderboard on Sunday to post an 11 under 61 to take a 1 stroke lead into the clubhouse. Unfortunately for Cantlay, there were 6 groups still on the course and one group included Si Woo Kim. Kim started the Sunday round a little bit closer so his 8 under round gave him the title by 1 stroke. This was the 25 year old Korean’s 3rd PGA Tour victory.
The LPGA Tour was back in action at the Diamond Resort’s Tournament of Champions. Jessica Korda started the final 9 holes 3 strokes behind the 3 day leader Danielle Kang. With 4 late birdies, she caught Kang to force a playoff. On the first playoff hole, Korda dropped a bending 30 foot putt for birdie. Kang missed her 18 foot birdie putt. Korda rang up her 6th LPGA Tour win.
The European Tour’s Race to Dubai began with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Terrell Hatton finished at 18 under to win by 4 strokes over Jason Schrivner with Rory McIlroy being 5 strokes behind.
