After missing the cut at The Open 2 weeks ago, Dustin Johnson played in the RBC Canadian Open. With 4 rounds below par, Johnson went on to post a -23 for the win. He finished 3 strokes ahead of 2nd place finishers Whee Kim and Byeong Hun An. This was Johnson’s third win of the year and his 19th Tour victory.
The European Tour was in Hamburg Germany for the Porsche European Open. With a birdie on the 72nd hole, 17 Year Pro Richard McEvoy posted his first Tour victory.
The Ladies Scottish Open had the variety of weather the Mens Scottish Open didn’t have a few weeks ago. Ariya Jutanugarn didn’t let the rain and wind stop her from posting a -13 to win by 1 stroke over Minjee Lee.
The Old Course at St Andrews hosted The Senior Open where Miguel Angel Jimenez won his 2nd Senior Major of the year with a -12 – one stroke better than Bernhard Langer.
This weekend also saw the passing of long term PGA and Champions Tours player Bruce Lietzke at age 67. During his playing years, Lietzke posted 17 PGA Tour victories and 3 Senior Tour victories including the US Senior Open. Condolences go out to his family and friends.
