22 year old Garrick Higgo, a lefty from South Africa, won the Palmetto Championship at Congaree. This was Higgo’s 2nd start on the PGA Tour. He came from 6 strokes back to post a 3 under 68 and took advantage of leader Chesson Hadley late round collapse. He posted -11 for the tournament and finished 1 stroke ahead of 6 golfers. Higgo has now won an event in each of the last 3 months (Gran Canaria Lopeson Open in April and Canary Islands Championship in May – both on the European Tour circuit). His initial win was at the 2020 Portugal Open.

Matilda Castren became the first Finnish player to win on the LPGA Tour this past week at Lake Merced. This was her first victory in 15 starts.

A immediate battlefield promotion has been given to Mito Periera after his 3rd victory on the Korn Ferry Tour in a year. He will tee up at the Travelers for his first PGA Tour event.
