A few years ago, Patrick Reed proclaimed he was one of the top 5 golfers. He finally reached that lofty perch (at least for this past weekend) with winning his first major. He walked off the 18th green at Augusta on Sunday with a 1 stroke victory. Over the first 54 holes, he built a 3 stroke lead to reach 15 under and then held off the early round challenge by Rory McIroy and the back 9 challenges from Jordan Spieth and finally Rickie Fowler.

The majority of the field of 87 certainly had their respective ups and downs on Thursday and Friday with the group staying pretty much bunched up. One that didn’t get through to the weekend was last year’s winner – Sergio Garcia. He was doomed when he did a “tin cup” effort on Thursday with 5 balls in the water on the 15th hole to post a 13.
