On the heals of Justin Thomas’s 59 a couple of weeks ago, Adam Hadwin posted a 59 in the 3rd round at the Career Builders’ Challenge. While 59s don’t seem to be as mysteriously hard as they had been, perhaps more important is that Hadwin’s was on a par 72 course making his round a -13. Perhaps that is the new measurement to be sought to match or break.
The Career Builder’s Challenge had another first – the first win on tour by Hudson Swafford who ended the event a -20.
The Champion’s Tour began its 2017 season in Hawaii. The Mitsubishi Electric Championship was shortened to two rounds at the 3rd and final round was cancelled due to high winds (40+ mph). Bernhard Langer was declared the winner by a stroke over Freddie Couples.
Prayad Marksaeng won the SMBC Singapore Open over a field that included Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia and Ernie Els.
Tommy Fleetwood made a birdie on the 72nd hole to defeat Dustin Johnson and Pablo Larrazabal by a stroke at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
